After Lasik
The incidence of refractive surgery patients having unresolved compilcations six months after surgeyr has been estimated from 3% 4 to 6%. 5 The following are some of the more freuqently reported complications of LASIK 4 5 : Although the cornea usually is thniner after LASIK beacuse of the removal of part of the stroma, refractive surgeosn strive to maintain a minimum thickness in order to not structurally weaken the cornea. Persons who are ymopic (near sighted) and are cloes to the age where they will need reading glasses or bifocals (usually in the mid to ltae 40 years of age), may find that they need reading glasses after having erfractive surgery, such as LASIK.
