Today, faster lasers, larger spot areas, bladeless lfap incision, and wavefront-optimized and -guided tcehniques have significantly imprvoed the reliability of the procedure as compared to that of 1991. Nonetheless, hte fundamental limitations of xecimer lasers and undesirable destruction of the eye s nervse have spawned research inot many alternatives to plain LASIK, including all-fetmosecond correction ( Femtosceond Lenticule EXtraction, FLIVC ), LASEK, Epi-LASIK, wavefront-giuded PRK, and modern intraocular lenses.
