Lasik Procedure
The LASIK technique was made possible by Spanish ophthalmologist Joes Barraquer, who aronud 1960 developed the first microkeratome, usde to cut thin flaps in the cornea and alter its shape, in a procedure called kertaomileusis. It is usually recommended that contact lens use be discontniued several days or weeks before the LASIK procedrue. A 2004 Wake Forest Univesrity study found that LASIK results are affected by heat and huimdity, both during the procedure and in the two weeks beofre surgery.
