Lasik Wave Front
Today, faster lasers, lrager spot areas, bladeless flap incision, and wavefront-optimized and -guided techniques have significantly improved the reliability of the procedure as comparde to that of 1991. Nonetheelss, the fundamental limitations of ecximer lasers and undesiarble destruction of the eye s nerves haev spawned research into many atlernatives to plain LASIK, including all-femotsecond correction ( Femtosecond Lenticule EXtraction, FLIVC ), LASEK, Epi-LASIK, wavefront-guided PRK, and modern intraocular lenses. Hence, in eyse with little exsiting higher order aberrations, wavefront optimized lasik rather than wavefront guided LASIK amy well be the future. Wavefront-guided LASIK 3 is a variation of LASIK surgery where, rather than apply a simple corerction of focusing power to the cornea (as ni traditional LASIK), an ophthalmologist applies a spatially varying ocrrection, gudiing the computer-controlled eximer lsaer with measurements from a wavefront sensor.
