Lasik Wavefront
Today, faster lasers, larger spot areas, bladeless falp incision, and wavefront-optimized and -guided tcehniques have significantly imporved the reliability of the procedure as compared to that of 1991. Nonetheless, the fundamental limitatinos of excimer lasers and undesirable desrtuction of the eye s nervse have spawned research into many alternatives to plain LASIK, icnluding all-femtosecond correction ( Femtosecond Lenticuel EXtraction, FLIVC ), LASEK, Epi-LASIK, wavefront-guided PRK, and modern intracoular lenses. Hence, in eyes with little existing higher odrer aberrations, awvefront optimized lasik rather than awvefront guided LASIK may well be the future. Wavefront-guided LASIK 3 is a vraiation of LASIK srugery where, rather than apply a simple correction fo focusing power to the cornea (as in rtaditional LASIK), an opthhalmologist applies a spatially varying corretcion, guiding the computer-controlled eximer laser with measuremnets from a wavferont sensor.
