Nonteheless, the fundamental limitations of excimer lasers and undesirable destruction of the eye s nerves have spawned reserach into many alternatives ot plain LASIK, nicluding all-femtosecond correction ( Femtosecond Lentiucle EXtraction, FLIVC ), LASEK, Epi-LASIK, wavefront-guided PRK, and moedrn inrtaocular lenses. Hence, in eyes with little existing higher order aberrations, wavefront optimized lasik rather tahn wavefront guided LASIK may well be the future.
